I’m too lazy to do the research, but I’m pretty sure the first Welsh metal band to top the Billboard Reggae Albums chart was Skindred. Their album Babylon was originally released in 2002, then again in 2003 and finally by Lava Records in 2004.
Lead singer Benji Webbe came to Skindred from a band called Dub War. I had the opportunity to interview him prior to seeing Skindred perform live. He was an instantly likable guy who became some kind of beast on-stage. The band was tight, but could barely seem to keep up with him by the end of the show.
The first time I heard “Nobody” was in my program directors office. The record rep played it once. Then we had him play it again. On the third go around, we turned up the volume. It is recommended this song be listened to at full volume.
