A band comprised of four songwriters and three singers, Gomez’ debut album, Bring It On, won the Mercury Music Prize in 1998. They released three more albums on an imprint of Virgin Records, then, disillusioned with the state of the recording industry, asked their label to let them go. They later signed with independent label ATO and went on to release their most successful album (in the U.S.) to date, How We Operate.
But this blog isn’t about playing the hits. A compilation of two albums worth (Bring It On and Liquid Skin) of single b-sides, Abandoned Shopping Trolley Hotline, was released in 2000, featuring this alternate take of “78 Stone Wobble”. This is “78 Stone Shuffle” from Gomez.
