In 1985, singer Kevn (sic) Kinney teamed up with early members of R.E.M. and a band called Mr. Crowes Garden to form Drivin n Cryin. While Drivin n Cryin never reached the dizzying heights of R.E.M. or “Mr. Crowes Garden” (eventually renamed The Black Crowes), they did manage to string together a dozen releases over a 26 year career. Kevn also performs solo, working occasionally with R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck. Those Atlanta connections are hard to break.
