In 2000, I found myself in a strange position: sitting at the feet (literally) of famed producer Rick Rubin. In the off chance that you are unfamiliar, Rubin is the founder of both Def Jam and Def American (later American Recordings) and has produced records for the following artists:

While the last name in the list may not ring an immediate bell, that was the reason that I found myself perched at Rubin’s feet. He was making surprise (I didn’t know he was coming, anyway) visits to radio stations to promote paloalto’s debut, eponymous record.
Paloalto managed to crank out two albums on Rubin’s American label before disbanding. This is “Sonny” from paloalto.
